Marilena P

“As a complete beginner in Yoga I find Danielle's class to be an extremely enjoyable experience. Both relaxing and challenging when it needs to be this is really a great start to day as it helps me center and exercise, as well as let go of the week's worries. I think Danielle is a wonderful instructor, taking time helping each member of the class and making the hour just fly by!”

Emily

“This course has helped my back problems which I had in the lower and upper back. It has helped to relieve these problems and I am able to sleep better. Before this course I would wake up in agony, often having to take painkillers. I no longer take these.”

Tom

"I started Pilates with Danielle as a complete beginner and I've been enjoying her classes for a while now.  I'd always been interested in trying out yoga and a six-week introduction under her guidance was the perfect way to start.  She is a great teacher who gives a lot of encouragement (necessary for a novice like me!) and clearly loves what she does."

Kath + Brian

“Danielle is a very professional practitioner with a wide range of skills which adapts to meet the individual need of the member.  You can have every faith in her and we recommend Danielle to anyone who requires improvement in movement and fitness.”

Jenny

“I found it very helpful to know when I wasn’t in a posture correctly and to be corrected. I also really like being offered possible alternatives for poses as this allowed me to experiment with what worked for me. I also found it helpful to have the space to do things at my own speed/pace/ with my natural breathing rather than as a group. I think Danielle’s energy and enthusiasm of yoga as a teacher also came across which always makes things more enjoyable.”

Elizabeth

“I first went to Danielle’s Pilates classes about a year ago, I have been doing Pilates for about 7 years and it was so refreshing to go to Danielle’s class. She is the best trainer I have ever had. She encourages me to keep improving and to get stronger and stronger; she demonstrates the movements and always checks to ensure that I am doing the exercises correctly.

Training with her is a highly motivating and fulfilling experience; she is passionate and enthusiastic which rubs off in the class. I cannot recommend Danielle enough and always look forward to her lessons.”

Jo
A gym and fitness lover, Jo came to be after severe back injury and was looking for a sustainable approach to maintaining a healthy and strong body.

Why did you start Pilates?

I had previously hurt my back and wanted to get back to exercising but didn’t have faith my back would hold out so I decided to start with Pilates.

How did you hear about Danielle?

Danielle was recommended to me by a sports massage therapist I had been seeing for my back.

Did you have any particular conditions if so what were they?

I have hypermobile joints which can cause me problems particularly in the hips.

How did your 1st session go? What were your 1st impressions?

First session was mostly assessment to see what I was able to do and more importantly what I couldn’t do. Danielle was very understanding and made me feel at ease even when I couldn’t do the simplest things!

How long did it take before you started to feel/notice a difference?

I noticed a difference after the second session, my body seemed to remember how to work/stand properly.

What do you like best about Danielle's approach?

Danielle is not judgemental and is always positive. She is very meticulous in her approach to Pilates and wants everything to be done properly, no short cuts or cheating! She is also very mindful of ensuring no injuries are exacerbated and explains how to reduce further injury. She is very knowledgeable on body anatomy but also appreciates that everyone has different limits.

What did you find most helpful?

I was provided with a list of simple exercises to do at home which definitely helped in the first few weeks. I am more aware of how I should exercise properly and when I am doing things wrong.

Are you still doing Pilates, if so how long has it been and how do you feel now?

I have been doing Pilates with Danielle for approx. year now and will continue to do so, I am back doing some of the exercise that I used to.

What advice would you give someone who is contemplating starting Pilates?

Do it, if you enjoy cardio exercise it will feel slow at first but it’s amazing when you slow things down how little you can do properly, this makes it a challenge in itself.

Jonathan
A businessman suffering with Chronic Low-back Pain. When he first came to class he was consistently in pain with his back and taking many painkillers

Why did you start Pilates?

I had various physical issues that were preventing me from effectively participating in my love of water sports.

Did you have any particular conditions if so what were they?

Neck pain, upper back pain, lower back pain, stiff and painful shoulder plantar fasciitis in my foot.

How did your 1st session go? What were your 1st impressions?

I was very nervous on my first session as I was clearly in a lot of discomfort from my back issues I didn't think I would be able to complete the class. I booked a one to one session so there was no where for me to hide! Booking a one to one sessions with Danielle was the best way for her to assess me and work out a programme that addressed my issues, and the best way for me to benefit from the detailed demonstrations and directions Danielle gives you.

How long did it take before you started to feel/notice a difference?

I started to feel the benefits of Pilates after 3-4 weeks, but mentally felt the benefits immediately as I felt I had found a teacher that I could work with and a form of exercise that I could slowly build on each week and feel the benefits slowly but surely in my back pain reduction!

What do you like best about Danielle¹s approach?

Danielle is intelligent and extremely knowledgeable about the human body. She has gained a deep knowledge of the abilities and movement of the body through her life as professional dancer, dance and Pilates teacher coupled with the many courses she has attended. This has given her a deep understanding and fascination in the movement of the human body. This experience has made her into a formidable teacher of Pilates and yoga. Couple that with her eagle eyed attention to your Pilates postures and positions and you can only ever do the positions correctly which is hugely beneficial and helps avoid injury.

What did you find most helpful?

Danielle's ability to convince me that stretching is largely controlled by the mind and with the right mental attitude anything is possible. I have gone from not being able to stretch my hands past my knees to being able to place my hands flat on the floor.

Are you still doing Pilates, if so how long has it been and how do you feel now?

I have been doing Pilates with Danielle for 8 months and feel truly so much better for doing so! All my aches and pains previously mentioned have gone. Through Danielle's enthusiasm I have become a massive fan of Pilates and now practice for my own enjoyment and not to just keep my former back pain at bay.

What advice would you give someone who is contemplating starting Pilates?

Go for it! Don't delay if you have back pain or feel stiff and inflexible non of these things should stop you. Danielle will quickly asses your needs,  devise a plan and you are off. Danielle's charm, enthusiasm, gentle encouragement and deep understanding of what anybody can achieve through Pilates will transform your life.

More Kind Words

I have been having 1-2-1 classes with Danielle for nearly a year, having never done Pilates or Yoga before, and I cannot sing her praises enough. Danielle is a fantastic teacher, she tailor makes every class to suit my needs, she listens to me, she understands my bodies capabilities and works hard on perfecting my form so I get the most out of our classes. We work on balance, stability, core strength, and I have never felt better. I leave our 1-2-1's walking on air.Danielle's knowledge extends a lot further than pilates, she has a wealth of knowledge she is happy to share. Danielle has an open, calm, extremely friendly demeanour, and she makes me feel extremely comfortable even when I am outside of my comfort zone. - AMY

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't recommend Danielle's one-to-one sessions highly enough. As a (fairly) fit, but nervous beginner, these sessions enabled me to really focus on the movements and instantly feel the benefits of tapping into muscle groups, whilst learning how to change up the exercise.

Danielle's ability to teach 1-2-1 over Zoom is impressive, even at any precarious ipad angle (at my end), with no flex or movement going unnoticed. I should add that Danielle's video setup is very clear, and didn’t feel I was missing out on face to face tuition.

I am particularly guilty for making things easy for myself, which is why I favoured the 1-2-1 block, and Danielle's support and attention allows me to get the very best out of the session. To me, this is essential when working hours can be unforgiving, so quality time spent on an activity really is worth it.

In summary, I’ve really enjoyed the sessions I’ve completed so far, feel stronger and more agile, know my body better, and am able to apply techniques to my running and hiking to avoid aches and pains. -
